Abstract

To investigate the growth performance, nutrient metabolism and hormone in prefattening pigs of microbial fermentation bed system without antibiotics feeds, 120 Suzhong pigs (30kg) were randomly allotted to 2 treatments with 4 replicates per treatment. The results showed that (1) there was no significant change in body weight among pigs, the average daily gain increased by 4.76% (P>0.05), and the gain/feed ratio decreased by 1.72% (P>0.05). (2) Compared with the control group, there was a slight increase in the content of serum total protein (TP) and albumin (ALB) (P>0.05); the serum triglyceride (TG) content of pigs without antibiotics fed diet reduced dramatically by 58.82% (P<0.01); the activity of serum alanine aminotransferase and  aspartate aminotransferase were increased but there was no significant difference (P>0.05). (3) The concentrations of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) were improved significantly in those without antibiotics feeds, which increased by 18.12% and 18.84% respectively (P<0.05), there was also an increase in the concentration of insulinlike growth factors (IGF1), insulin (INS) and growth hormone (GH), but the changes were not significant (P>0.05). The above results suggested that feeds without antibiotics applied in prefattening pigs of microbial fermentation bed system improved the growth performance, the level of nutrient metabolism, the concentrations of T3 and T4, and the level of endocrine hormones in serum, while it reduced the concentration of serum TG.
