Effects of Supplementation with Dietary Hempseed Meal on Growth Performance,Blood Biochemical Indices for Piglets

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary hempseed meal levels on growth performance, blood biochemical indices of piglets. Two hundred and forty piglets with initial body weight of 17 kg were randomly designed to 4 groups with 6 replicates in each group and 10 piglets in each replicate. All pigs were given isocaloric and isonitrogen diets, and supplementation with different levels of hempseed meal were 0, 2%, 4%, 6%.The results showed as follows: 1) Supplementation with different levels of hempseed meal had no significant effects on growth performance, daily gain of weight, daily feed intake and feed conversion (P>0.05). 2) The concentrations of SUN, GH, IGF-Ⅰ, and Na-+-K-+-ATPase and total disaccharidase activity in jejunum mucous were not significantly affected by dietary hempseed meal of different levels (P>0.05). As a new protein feed resource, hempseed meal could be safely used to partly replace soybean meal in diet of piglets.
